Flashback Friday...

This is my friend Amy. We have been friends since the 8th grade. We initially met because she and my friend, Crystal, were in the same English class together in the 8th grade.

Crystal and I have been friends since the 4th grade....we were 9 at the time. This year...we will have been friends for 20 years. It just doesn't feel like we're old enough to say that?? Seriously.

Anyway- in the 8th grade, Crystal and Amy were in the same English class...and their English class just so happened to be 4th period....which is also the lunch period. So one thing led to another....and 3 of us began eating lunch together everyday. Our menu for lunch : Nacho Cheese Doritos, smothered in the runny nacho cheese (you know....the kind that comes from a can and they heat it up in a crock pot?....concession stand cheese....so yummy it's gross...), Dr. Pepper, and then a Snicker's or Whatchamacallit. But honestly- I think it was a Snicker's. The Whatchamacallit didn't really prevail until Freshman year....

I searched through most of my pictures this evening looking for pictures of Amy and I together...and well...to my surprise....there weren't very many. BUT....I will say- that the ones I did find...I just can't bare to post. Maybe one day I will get my nerve. But not today. They are hilarious and embarrassing...and our wardrobe and hair....just plain wrong sometimes!!!

But here is a picture the 3 of us....Amy, Me, Crystal. This was taken one Friday afternoon before a varsity football game. We spent almost every Friday night in high school at Crystal's house after the games. We'd have our "kitchen time" where we'd eat Nacho Cheese Dorito's with salsa and drink Dr. Pepper. We were so health conscious back then...huh?

And here is a picture of me and Amy at my wedding. She was one of my bridesmaids.

Amy is one of my dearest friends (I guess the kinda corny part comes on now). And we have kept in touch through all of these years. We sometimes go a while without talking or seeing each other....but when we do get together or talk....it's like we never skipped a beat!

And so I would like to take this time to congratulate my good friend, Amy, on her upcoming nuptials this summer! She just got engaged to a great guy, Matt, 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier for them!

Flashback Friday...

So Parker has discovered the glider in her room. It is now a toy. She likes to sit in it and glide. So last night, she wanted to sit in it...and I let her. It was so weird how I was immediately reminded of how I sat her there when she turned 2 months old to take her "2 month" pictures. They are very blurry, but just another example of how much she has grown in the past year...

She could barely even sit up straight, and would fall over after only a few seconds...
(these pictures were taken 11/20/07)

...and now...11/13/08...

...in the very same glider...with the very same blanket...

...now let's move in for a close-up...(she actually smiled for me this time when I said, "Smile!! Say cheese!!"....it was too cute...

Flashback Friday...

OK.....so this isn't the best picture in the world....

...but it is the picture of me and my roommate/best friend from college, Jamie. This pictures was taken our freshman year at Baylor, second semester (Spring 1999). This was just the first of many late nights at Wal-Mart. That's when we did most of our grocery shopping because we were in class during the day (most of the time) and then the early evenings were too busy! For some reason, this night...we decided to go to the toy section and took this picture (not to mention the odd fact that we actually brought our camera to Wal-Mart) Ahhh...... to be young again! (Love you Jamie! :-)

Well, now... we lead completely different lives than we did 9 years ago (it's really almost 10 years ago!). We are now both wives and mothers, and in school again! (Who'd uh thunk it?) Anyway- moral of the story... here is a picture taken a few weeks ago when her and her family came into town for Parker's birthday party. This was not staged, but we were both sitting there....struggling with our daughters....trying to put their diapers on!!!! Angelo (Jamie's husband) grabbed the camera and snapped this shot....

Abigail is almost exactly 6 months older than Parker (just one day off!). We tried to take their picture together....this is the best we could get... (but aren't they beautiful??)

Not much better than last January....
uugghhhhh...I can't even remember them being that small!!!

Flashback Friday...

Is it Friday already? Really?? Anyway...the video below is from October 31, 2007. Parker was 6 weeks old. These were the days where from about 7:30 in the morning until 10 at night, she would only take about three- 30 minute naps a day. Yikes. So as you can imagine...most of the time "awake" was spent crying! Don't get me wrong...although these were rough times during the day, she was a great baby at night, and at 6 weeks, she was already sleeping about 5-6 hours straight! My pediatrician said , "this is your trade-off!" And my how her cry has changed! Then the video jumps to November 12th and I just added that in because it was next on the video. Happy Friday!

Flashback Friday...

Today I decided to reflect back on what was going on in our lives exactly one year ago today.

One year ago today, I was one month away from Parker's due date ( which was September 15,2007). Isn't it amazing how last year at this time, this is what Parker was doing...

...and see how far we've come! Now we're trying to figure out what we're going to do for her first birthday! This first year (like all the years) goes by so fast...and they change so much!

Flashback Friday...

This is a new thing I am going to try...every Friday I am going to 'flashback' and reminisce about something in the past. We'll see how this works out...

So a couple of weeks ago, I had some of my friends from college over (from the first time I was in college). Anyway- the subject was brought up how when we started going to Baylor, 10 years ago this August, we could buy gas for $.79 per gallon. Yes- you saw that right..."seventy-nine cents per gallon!" At the time, this price was even 10 cents cheaper than Dallas. I could seriously fill up my little corolla for $8.00 TOTAL!!! And that was even when it was on empty!!! So if my calculations are correct...that means that gas is about 4 and a half times more expensive these days!!! Geeeeez!!!

So that's the flashback story of the day...
