baby's first st. patrick's day

I just realized I never got these posted.

Nolan's first St. Patrick's Day pictures.  :)

He is on the move…and getting him to take a picture these days (or change is diaper!!!) is nearly impossible.

But I think we did all right.

Cutest 'lucky charm' I ever did see.

ice day

Yesterday, Parker's school was cancelled due to icey roads.  I knew this on Sunday night….and since we had had such a very lazy Sunday….I took a little time to prepare some crafts to do to help keep us busy, occupied, and happy.

Since St. Patrick's day is the holiday of the month…I went with that theme.  We began by reading The Luckiest St. Patrick's Day Ever…then to craft time.

Stamping 4-leaf clovers with bell peppers.  Idea found here (and lots of other places, too!)

They had so much fun doing this.  They each did 2 pages.

Next up….pot of gold with a rainbow.  I've had these tissue paper squares for years from a box of crafts I've had and never used them.  I almost got rid of them because I had never used them…and now I've used them twice in the past month or so.

And I love how they each came up with their own way to do the rainbow.

And last up…the shamrock crown.  I reeeeally wanted them to paint them green.  They both gave confused looks when I told them, and insisted they make them rainbow.  I shouldn't try to limit their creativity when it comes to these types of things, but I had seen the picture in the tutorial and they were green….so I just thought it needed to be green.  And I am soooo glad they didn't listen to me!

My next goal is to actually hang up a display line instead of stacking the work up on my dining room table!

I know it takes a little more time to plan and prepare a few activities…but this was pretty simple and didn't take much time at all.  And our day was so much better for it.  The girls would do their activity…and then they'd be ready to play.  Everyone wins.  :)  (and I write all of that as a pep talk to myself!)

insta-friday

Another busy week around here!  :)  I can't believe it's already Friday.  I feel like I missed a day somewhere this week!

This past Saturday my sister and sweet friend, Emily, threw me and baby Nolan a baby shower.  We were blessed with so much.  I'm still going through the pictures and hope to get it posted soon!

Sunday was St. Patty's day and I the night before- I was helping Geoff out by getting the girls outfits ready for church the next morning (seems to help the mornings go a bit more smoothly and with less argument).  Anyway- the only sewing I've been doing lately is for the nursery...so making new St. Patrick's day outfits was definitely out of the question.  But I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that they could wear their outfits from last year! (and really this was Parker's third year to wear hers!)  Geoff sent me this picture while I was at work and I love it.

On Monday afternoon- Geoff sent me a text with only the picture on the left and a message saying "Wanna know why she's like this?"  To which I replied, "Why???"  To which he replied with the picture on the right.  :)  Luckily- it was her own hair....and very little...and her hair has lots of body and some curls so it hides pretty well.  She was in time out and she looks so pitiful, bless her heart.  But sister has to learn to only cut the paper!!  :)

Grace is still my baby for a little bit longer.  Over the past week or so I can tell that she has become a little more clingy.  Every night before bed she'll say, "Mommy- when I wake up in the morning do you have to go to work?"  And if I say no, she'll respond so excitedly with, "Yay!! I'm so happy you will be home because I would miss you" or something along those lines that's just so sweet.  If I say yes- she starts to whine and hugs me and tells me how much she doesn't want me to go to work.  Breaks my heart, I tell ya.  I found myself just trying to hold her more today...looking at her little feet...just trying to soak in her little-ness while she's still my only baby and praying that I don't look back one day and think that I didn't appreciate her enough these days.

I try to make pancakes at least one morning a week.  The girls eat them so well (I do, too!).  Parker has been very eager to help lately and she does a pretty good job!  Now if I could just get her to be so eager to help clean up the mess.....:)

And last night before bed Parker asked, "Momma, where is your phone?"  I said, "I don't know baby, why?"  She replied, "Because I want to take a picture with you and Grace.  Just you with your girlies.......and your BIG belly!"  Ha!  I'm pretty sure this was a stall tactic to delay bedtime...but I could not resist.  Love my girlies.

Make it Wear It

I took a spin on our pillowcase pattern and came up with this....

I think it turned out pretty cute.  I am currently working on a pattern with some cute spring/summer fabrics that will hopefully be in our shop within a few weeks.  I'll keep you posted!

Anyway- luckily, Parker was able to wear her outfit from last year!  A timesaver for sure!  Plus, it's so cute it needed to get more wear!

And I threw in this one for good measure.  Love how she's looking up to Parker with the sincerest smile.

St. Patty's Day

Only a few (ok- 4 days) late!

I made the girls' skirt and ruffled pants and my mom made their cute, cute shirts! We didn't actually do anything on St. Patty's day.... and so they wore them to church this past Sunday. So I had to get a picture since they would really only be wearing these 1 time!

But I think it was worth it. ;)

(Little sister's pants were almost too tight for her....haha. She loves to eat!)
