Look-alike Meter

So it's official...Parker looks mores like Geoff than me (but only by THREE percent!!!). Honestly, I ran our photos twice...the first time, my face was turned a little to the side in the picture, and the results said that Parker looked equally like her mom and dad. So I decided to do it again, this time with a picture of my head facing completely forward (the website suggested that for best results use photos where your face is full frontal), and below are the results...

A week in review..

Well- a week has gone by and I have yet to post any pictures! We haven't had anything too exciting going on, but we have been busy! Parker amazes me every day! She is getting into more and more. It amazes me because she cannot crawl or walk, yet somehow, is able to get into so much! We have done the basics of putting plug protectors into our plugs, but we still have quite a bit more 'baby-proofing' to do. The thing is, it seems as though most of the things we need to do, do not occur to us until she is already into it! Nonetheless, we are having so much fun with her. She definitely makes us laugh everyday!

Last Tuesday, we finally made it to the Dallas Arboretum.

I always talk about how Parker loves bath time, so here are a few pictures of her playing. We have registered her for swim lessons for June and we're hoping she will enjoy the big pool as much as she enjoys her bathtub!

For the past month, Parker has been getting better about 'cruising' around our furniture, going from piece to piece, making it from one end of the room to the other. This past weekend, she started walking further distances while holding onto our hands.

Storybook time...

This is a video of me reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear to Parker. She usually sits in my lap with her hands on her knees, and will turn the page when I am finished reading (I have to slightly lift the page up for her because if I don't, she ends up flipping the whole book shut :-)). Sometimes she gets a little excited and starts to turn the page before I am finished reading. Anyway- just thought she was cute and wanted to share.

8 months old...

The time has flown since our precious Parker made her entrance into this world and blessed our lives. At 8 months old she's busy discovering the world around her. She is still not crawling, but seems to be more interested lately, as she frequently leans forward from a sitting positions and will sometimes balance on her knees and hands, but usually ends up on her belly (which she is not too fond of). She's become a pro at pulling herself up, and is even starting to side-step from one end of her toy chest to the other. She can even stand on her own a few seconds at a time! She can eat cheerios and some other finger foods, which she seems to really enjoy. Unfortunately, she is not a fan of vegetables anymore, so we are mixing them with pears and apples and sneaking them in! She loves bath time...even so much that when it's time to get out she pushes my hands away because she doesn't want me to pick her up, and will even throw a small fit when I do get her out! She calms down pretty quickly, though. We have begun to use the word "no" as each day she gets into more and more! Oddly enough, she does stop what she's doing, takes a moment to look up at me, then, with her eyes still looking into mine, will slowly continue to do whatever it is I told her not to do! And so here it begins... She is definitely showing distinct personality characteristics! :-)

I love that I am able to be home with her because she is changing and growing so fast...I don't want to miss a thing!

Like father, like daughter...

A couple of weeks ago, Geoff put Parker in her pack-n-play so he could go take care of something. He placed her standing because that's what she seems to like to do the most these days. Anyway- as soon as he put her in there, she, of course, put her mouth on the top rim. Geoff said, "I used to chew on the plastic covering like that when I was little...and I think there's a picture of me doing it." So we went through the many pictures of Geoff when he was a baby (his mother was a huge fan of taking pictures...I think there is one for every day of his early childhood!), and found the one he was talking about. Like father, like daughter...

Sweet little feet!

For a while now, every time I feed Parker, she crosses her little legs at her ankles and just looks so comfy! Now, over the past week or so, I have noticed that this is how she sits on the floor and plays. It's just so cute to me! What's even more funny is that I have caught her trying to cross her legs while she is standing! She's just about figured out that this does not work!

New pictures...

And this is just a picture that I wanted to share...

Today, Parker and I were supposed to go to the Dallas Arboretum with my friend, Jodie, and her girls, but we were rained out. So- instead, we went to the Galleria so the kids could play in the play yard and grab a bite to eat. Parker was in a great mood and even tried pulling herself up on a little alligator. I know she was really too little to do anything today, but it made me excited for all the things we will be able to do in the future as she continues to grow and learn!

New shoes!

I finally found some plain little white sandals for Parker's little feet! She was pretty good about letting me put them on her, but then she didn't really know what to do with them. So what did she do?? She did what she does with most everything...she put them in her mouth! I could not even get her to stand up with them on because she just kept staring at them!

Finger foods!

Over the past weekend, we began giving Parker some finger foods. She enjoys 'biter biscuits'... but boy are they messy! Then we gave her some little 'banana puffs' which are a little difficult for her to pick up since they are so small. Needless to say...the dog is enjoying this stage...as most of the food ends up on the floor!

"I'm not sure about this..."

"...still not sure..."

"...yum???..."

"...still can't figure out how to get those little things in my mouth, but I can take the tray off my bumbo seat!"
