Grace @ 11 months (with growth chair pics, too!)

Getting this month's growth chair pic was an adventure in and of itself!  And let me preface this by saying.....that just 2 months ago when sitting her in her chair.....she would just smile and bounce up and down....thinking she was hot snot, or something.

This is no longer the case.

I sat her in her chair with Parker for their traditional picture together.  Nothing doing!

Let the fun begin!  Try #1.

Try #3 (Try #2 is not pictured just because I was trying to cut down on the number of pics I posted.  But now I realize that attempt was merely futile.)

Poor baby!

Ok- so this next picture kind of make me feel a little bit sorry for her.  She's just looking at me.

Try #4

Try #5
This time I went for reinforcements.  I got her cheddar puffs.  I had it in my hand.
Not interested.

See....look....food.....you love this!

Love this face.  "Soooooo sad......but ok.....I guess I'll take that puff from you!"

Try #6 - So let's try it again with puff in hand.  Nope!!!

If you're not laughing outloud at this point, I don't know what to tell you (then again- I am partial).  She is sitting here, boo-hooing.....but obviously not too upset to eat her precious puffs!

Try #7
DING, DING, DING!!  We have a winner!  Put the actual container of puffs IN the chair with her!  Haha!

Parker is waiting so patiently here.  She really wants to go help little sis out.  (Really- she just wanted 'her turn' to sit in the chair.)

"TA-DAH!!!!!!" (cue music)

Little turkey!!!!

But like all good things.....her happiness in the chair did come to an end.

And the winner for her official 11 months growth photo:

Only one more photo to add.  Uuuuuuh!  Can't believe it.  3 more weeks to go. :/

What she's been up to......

-when she drops something 'accidentally'...she says "uh-uuuh!" (trying to say uh-oh).

- wearing size 12 mo; size 3 diapers

-nurses 4 times a day- 7ish-, 11-ish, 3-ish, 7-ish. I am starting to ween this week....replacing 1 feeding per week until there are no more!

-loves her sister. she will just watch and watch her. her whole face brightens when parker walks into the room. i love the bond that they already share.

-depending on what is going on and whether or not she is distracted....she will try to say the words that I am asking her to say. she does not say the following words consistently, but has and will say them on occasion: tee (tree); cheeeee (with her voice intonation becoming more high pitched as she says it....just like when I say it when I am asking her to "Cheese!"); mama; dada; baba;

-showing more interest in wanting to walk....and becoming more stable when she is walking holding onto something (a push toy or holding my hands).

I feel like she is doing SO much, but when I sit down to write...it's like my mind is blank.  Hmmmm.

Grace Jean-

We love you to pieces.  You have added so much to our family!  Not a day goes by that you don't make me smile and laugh.  You know what you want, and you are not afraid to let us know!  Looking forward to the coming months and watching you grow and learn so much more!

I love you!

Momma

And now for a sneak peak of her one year cake pics.  Don't mean to ruin it 3 weeks early and all....but I just couldn't help myself.

It was Giant Cupcake v. Grace.

I think Grace won.  ;)

Our Christmas Card: Past...... and Present

I think it's fun to look back over the years at how our family has changed. One good way to do this, in my opinion, is by looking at our Christmas cards (or at least the pictures that we used on the cards). I've done this for the past 2 years....so just continuing on with the tradition!

Here's how our family has changed....

2006- Our first Christmas that we were married. These were our girls...Lola and Lily.

2007- Our second Christmas together.... we added our baby girl to the mix (Parker at 3 months).

2008- We decided to do a family photo along with some individual photos of Parker (15 months old).

2009

(this card was made using elements by Rhonna Farrer)

2010

I made the card this year using Photoshop.....and our pictures were taken by one of my friend's from college (the first time I went to college), Anna. She is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area....so if you are in the need for a great photographer, check out Laughlin House Photography. She was great with the kids and had a quick turnaround time. I'll be posting more from our session soon, but just wanted to get that out there for the moment!

P.S. I have not mailed out my Christmas cards yet. ;)

A Whole Bunch of Randomness

I'm a few weeks months behind on blogging that I do not even know where to start. Part of me just wants to wipe the slate clean and just start with today. But then there's this other...nostalgic...part of me that wants to include all of this because....really....at the end of the day- this blog is for me and my family, and mostly, my girls.

Occasionally- I will look back at a post from a year ago or so....and I'll read a post. And it'll be just a normal story....nothing exciting. Nothing that anyone other than me would even care about. But I love that it is there. Written down. To be remembered when we look back.

So here goes.....a whole bunch of randomness. ;)

We've started a new Christmas tradition this year.

I think it took Parker a while to catch on, but she loves it now. And I am just as in love with it. She comes out and looks for him. She talks to him and tells him where she wants him to go the next time (which he may, or may not do). She tells almost everyone that comes over where he is.

Each year- the holidays just keep getting more fun for me! The sharing of traditions, the gift giving, the crafts, the baking, the telling her about the true meaning of Christmas. I just love it.

Here is Fred (that's what we named him) on the first day (Actually- the first day- we read the book and left him in the box...because we couldn't touch him, you know. But this was his first spot that he found upon returning from the North Pole.)

It's been fun taking pictures of him in the various places he sits to 'watch.'

Another special thing about Fred is....you aren't supposed to touch him. If you do- it loses it's magic and he won't be able to fly to the North Pole anymore. Well....for some reason....., Fred decided to sit so low on the Christmas tree that this day was super fun keeping our almost 11 month old, crawling, child away from. ;)

My dining room looks like this.....

My office looks like this......

There have been well-intentioned plans to have cleaned and organized these spaces for about 4 months now. Will it ever be so? Is there someone I can call?

Parker and I have been Christmas crafting....and loving it. I have quite a few more planned (in addition to some baking!)....I really need to get on the ball! I have this inkling to hang up all of her handmade decorations this year on a string over the window. We'll see how that works out....

This is Grace's favorite thing to do. Don't think she learned it from anyone. But she does it all of the time!

And she looks pretty cute doing it!

She has also already started the whole "cheesing thing". It literally cracks me up this face that she makes. But mostly- I just can't get over how she's already figured out that we want her to do something specifically with her face....like smile.....and this is what she does!

Parker wants to join in, too!

Oh....but there's that precious face.

And she's been surprisingly pretty good about not messing with the tree. Something I was a little worried about and had been dreading, but she's used to it now, and really doesn't mess with it  {Oh- and she's started actually pointing at the things she wants a couple of weeks ago instead of just reaching.)

I have this problem with taking pictures in my silver reflecting ornaments.

Parker has discovered games on our phones. I have a love/hate relationship with this because:
a) I actually like some of the educational games for her
b) She enjoys it.
c) It's MY phone....and sometimes I think she forgets this one small, little, tiny aspect of it.

Lord, help me. I love these baby feet.

And this baby. This baby that will be 1 year (ONE) in about 5 weeks.

I had some extra Christmas fabric laying around that we used to make our Christmas dresses with.....

and made this skirt for Grace....
My mom is making her a coordinating onesie tonight! Can't wait to see it!

I love homemade bread.

This was my living room floor yesterday. Yes- this was all clean laundry. And I am happy to report that all but one basket is put away.
