Our weekend.
The girls and I started off our weekend on Friday while Geoff was working. And I have to admit- that when my days off roll around.....often times I am very tired and, well......I feel as though I end up being lazy. So all week and I tried to come up with something to do......and ended up deciding to go to the trusty ole arboretum.
And I am so glad we did.
The weather was perfect. Not too hot. Not too cool. And not too windy!
Parker was pleasant. Very pleasant! Which is not always the case these days. ;)
We walked around......visited the little houses......the fairytale castles that are on display.....and had a picnic. It was a great day. (And by the time I went to bed......I had even almost already finished all of our laundry from the week! And that's a feat in and of itself!)
****************
Saturday began at 8am. This was a special treat to Geoff and me. ;)
We ate a quick breakfast and headed to Wal-Mart to do our grocery shopping. We split our list....and the kids (most of the time....however.....both ended up with me this time.). We think if we split the list and the kids.....then we split the amount of time spent at the store. Not quite sure if this is really the case......but it works for now.
Came home. Had lunch. Grace took a nap and Geoff started mowing the lawn for the first time since the fall....so it took him a little longer than normal (that- coupled with the fact that his mower and weed-eater were not functioning up to par).
After Grace's nap.....we headed to Sonic happy hour....then to the nursery.......piled them in their wagon..... and got some vegetables for the garden and flowers for the beds in front. (....fyi....grace's drink is ice water)
We got home and had a wonderful dinner. We made Pioneer Woman's Spicy Dr Pepper Shredded Pork. This is a new recipe she posted last week and wen I saw it....I immediately thought, "Perfect! I'll make it this weekend and we'll eat it all week!" And it was SO good and really so, so easy.
We also made PW's salsa...
We used the delicious shredded pork and salsa to make soft tacos on Saturday night......
And they were so, so, so very good. Did I already say that?
And then after the kids went to bed, I made these taquitos and put them in the freezer to make at our convenience in the future. We also got large dinner rolls and sliced provolone while at Wal-Mart to make sandwiches with the leftovers, as well. And there are a lot of leftovers! Which is exactly what I wanted so that we'd have dinner for the week.
We''ll see how that works out come day 3 of leftovers. ;)

After dinner.....we headed out back to start planting a few vegetables in our garden.
Parker enjoyed stacking these bricks.....
And here....Geoff is explaining to her how it is not safe to play with those heavy bricks. ;)
Parker......taking a 'dirt bath'.
All in all....a wonderful weekend that, again, went way too fast.
