a little practice...

Tomorrow morning I am going to attempt to take some engagement pictures of my friend Emily and her fiance. I am little nervous, but excited about my subjects...in that- a.) they will not run away from me, and b.) they will smile on command. :) I'm just going to take a bunch and hope that at least a few really turn out well. I mean- don't you really only need a few?

So because I am taking their pictures...and because I have been wanting to do this for a while...I decided to rent a lens that I have thought that I might like to buy someday. I have read advice that before you spend the money on one...you should try it out first. Well....I love this one. It is the 50mm f/1.8...and I really, really like it. I wanted to try the 50mm f/1.4, but to rent this one...you need to reserve it ahead of time....I guess it's a hot commodity.

In case you're wondering...the place where you can rent anything photography for what I think is a decent price...it's called Competitive Camera. They have anything and everything you can imagine...lights, backgrounds, cameras, lenses....and I'm sure a lot more stuff that I have no clue as to what it is.

So here are my practice shots for the day. The colors aren't the best...looking a little on the green side in most of them...but I was too lazy tired to put any effort into editing them...and you may not even be able to tell a difference in these pictures as opposed to any other pictures I have taken...but I can! The main difference is the background is blurrier...and I was able to take better pictures... with less light..without having to use the flash!

I guess maybe we shouldn't leave home without this stuff???

Nemo....

his food...

a candle holder thingie...

This is what you get after you give your daughter m&ms when she gets up from her afternoon nap because she is fussy....and then daddy comes home and unbeknownst to you...gives her a red popcicle. Can we say sugar high???

Man!! I know this one is blurry, but I love her face!

I love how the background is blury and the focus is on the subject.
