Muffin Tin Monday

Muffin Tin Monday at Her Cup Overfloweth

This week's theme is Red/Valentine's day. Since I am working today- I made them their 'Valentine's Meal' last night.

Parker's meal: pink pancakes cut into hearts; m&m's; strawberry applesauce; strawberries; and red jello.

She did not want me to take her picture.....so this was as good as it got....

Grace needed to eat before I got the pink pancakes ready......so hers are regular pancakes cut into hearts; 3 m&m's (I was feeling very generous); strawberry applesauce; cheese slices; and strawberries.

This was her first time to ever have strawberry applesauce- and she loved it. It was almost as if she did not even notice what else was on her plate until it was gone.

She did make a mess.....and it was kind of hard for me to watch. :) But really- I think it is good for her to feed herself. And surprisingly- she's pretty good with the spoon and fork!

She thought she was too cute doing this.....

She did, eventually, give up on using the spoon.....

She did end up eating everything but the strawberries. But we had to finally move the cupcake 'tin' because she was starting to throw everything on the floor.

That's a great looking meal. I love the shots of her eating it, too.

Great job with the theme! :) You're so brave to let Grace feed herself! How old is she? She looks about the same age as my Titus who's 15 months. I'm having such a hard time letting him feed himself because I'm can't stand to see him make a mess! I know one of these days I'm just going to have to get over it! :)

I had feared the mess for my daughter, but then I read a book when she was 12 months saying that you need to start letting them use utensils at 9 months, otherwise the window of opportunity for them to learn to use them well closes until 18 months. Yup. I immediately began letting her feed herself, but she didn't get any good at it until 18 months, since I had missed the window. Ah well.
Love the play-by-play of her feeding herself! What yummy and fun looking meals!
