Halloween 2014

Last Wednesday night…we took the kids to our church's Trunk or Treat.  I didn't have the energy to dress them up in their costumes (not that their costumes took a lot of work…but the girls would have wanted their hair done and some make-up)….but I think they look pretty cute in their festive attire.  :)

This weekend was a big weekend for us!  It was not only our first full weekend off together in I don't even know how long…but it was Geoff and mine's first DAY off together in about 4 weeks.  Geoff's schedule has changed and they were short-staffed at my work…so it worked out for me to work quite a bit more than I normally do.  Suffice it to say…I am very thankful to have this job that is so flexible and with a minimum hour requirement per month…..but I will also say… it wore. us. out!

So Friday was packed full of fun.  We didn't really start our 'family fun day' until the afternoon because Nolan had his 18 mo well visit that morning.  But I think we packed enough fun into the afternoon to make up the whole day.

Of course, this was Nolan's very first pumpkin carving experience and he loved it.

He'd take the seeds out of his pumpkin...

…and dump them into Parker's.  Ha!  

This is the only time and only picture you will see of Grace touching the innards of a pumpkin.  She cannot stand the feel.

Then it was inside for caramel apple making.  I have purchased the caramel bits for the past TWO year and NEVER got around to making them.  THIS year was the year!

Toppings: pretzels, chocolate chips, sea salt, almonds, peanuts.

And yum!!

The one with the crushed pretzels was my favorite.  Next time I will definitely make more of those!

Then we headed to my mom's house for dinner and trick-or-treating.

Oh this boy.  No picture from this evening captured the cuteness that he was trick-or-treating.  He did not miss a beat.  We carried him only a few times…but other than that…he was walking step-for-step with the girls.  He'd push his way in front of them when they'd get to the doorstep and he'd point to the people's candy bowls….and he LOVED when they'd let him pick out a piece of candy himself.  He'd get a piece, drop it in his bucket, turn around, and waved as he started to walk off.

I know it's so blurry…but captures him running up to catch them perfectly.
