{early} Father's Day

Geoff had to work on Father's Day….so the Thursday before we decided to do a little something for the man in our lives that does so much for us.

We decided to play "Restaurant"….we were going to make him dinner, do a little decorating, and serve him.  The girls LOVED this idea and were so excited.  I was, too.

Around 3pm that afternoon- we sent him to the office and told him not to come out until we came to get him.  Nolan was down for a nap…so we had to get busy to get the restaurant ready.

The girls colored a brown paper sack (each colored one side but I didn't get a picture of Grace) in which to put some candy we had picked up earlier at the store.

They cleaned off the kitchen table.

Put on the table cloth.

Parker made the menu and named our restaurant Lasagna House.  Which I thought was perfect.

Love this picture of them.

Table is set.

Nolan woke up about the time that we were ready and so Geoff got him…then the girls got them.

Greeting him at our restaurant door.

Taking his order.

Bread and salad for an appetizer.

Lasagna for dinner.

We eventually all sat down together to eat.  :)

Taking his dessert order.

Sharing his candy that we gave him with the girls.

Cheesecake for dessert.

And one of the things that makes him such a great father….
…helping me clean up after dinner.

Love my family.

On Father's Day we went to church and the girls brought these little treats home for him.

And after we ate lunch- I snapped this picture to send Geoff and told him we love him.

Father's Day 2013

We had a pretty good father's day over here.  Geoff worked last night and slept in a little bit today.  So when it was time for him to get up...the girls were very excited.

They immediately had him open their gifts that they made him in Sunday school this morning.
{Parker's cup on left, Grace's cup on right}

And Parker also drew him this picture.

The girls also made him these hearts earlier in the week.  So sweet.

Father & Son

And here's one of the many reasons why Geoff is such a wonderful father {and husband}.  He offered to take the girls swimming (something that they really really wanted to do) even though I know he was so tired...but he knew that they would enjoy it....and he also knew it would give me a little time to get some stuff done around the house.  He's a keeper, I tell ya.

He told me before they left for the pool that they would be going to get ice cream before coming home. Ice cream before dinner was how we rolled tonight.  (Silly little posers!)

And then he grilled himself a steak.  :)

It was a low-key laid back day which was nice.  So thankful for the father of my children.  We are truly blessed.

This and That

Over the weekend we went to my dad's to have a little father's day gathering.  I didn't get very many good pictures, but wanted to document the day anyway.  (Kristin got some better pictures.)

A little garden update:

We have quite a few cherry tomatoes on the vine....but they were well hidden under the leaves.....so Geoff decided to put them up on the fence like this.  He didn't consult me on this.  :)   We just aren't sure if it is normal for them to take this long to turn?  They are getting so big, it just seems like they should be red now?   We'll see how long they last before the birds get them.  Haha.

Our tomatillo plant is thriving....in the sense that it..... is growing.  But no blooms.  ;(

Our 2 sunflowers have bloomed!  I think it's time to cut them off and enjoy them in our home.

This one is 'normal' in size.

Parker said, "It's sticky, Mommy."

And this is our giant sunflower.

This stalk is so thick!

I love these girls.  And Grace's smile.  I can't get over it.  From the day she was born, I knew she was completely different than her sister.....and each day she proves it to me more and more.  I can't really put it into words.  Another thing I've said since she was born....is that she is been my 'easy-going' baby.  Well....I think she tricked us all.  ;)  She is still good and sweet, of course, but a mess!

Then again.....maybe they aren't that different.

Looking forward to having the next 2 days off!
