{early} Father's Day

Geoff had to work on Father's Day….so the Thursday before we decided to do a little something for the man in our lives that does so much for us.

We decided to play "Restaurant"….we were going to make him dinner, do a little decorating, and serve him.  The girls LOVED this idea and were so excited.  I was, too.

Around 3pm that afternoon- we sent him to the office and told him not to come out until we came to get him.  Nolan was down for a nap…so we had to get busy to get the restaurant ready.

The girls colored a brown paper sack (each colored one side but I didn't get a picture of Grace) in which to put some candy we had picked up earlier at the store.

They cleaned off the kitchen table.

Put on the table cloth.

Parker made the menu and named our restaurant Lasagna House.  Which I thought was perfect.

Love this picture of them.

Table is set.

Nolan woke up about the time that we were ready and so Geoff got him…then the girls got them.

Greeting him at our restaurant door.

Taking his order.

Bread and salad for an appetizer.

Lasagna for dinner.

We eventually all sat down together to eat.  :)

Taking his dessert order.

Sharing his candy that we gave him with the girls.

Cheesecake for dessert.

And one of the things that makes him such a great father….
…helping me clean up after dinner.

Love my family.

On Father's Day we went to church and the girls brought these little treats home for him.

And after we ate lunch- I snapped this picture to send Geoff and told him we love him.

weekend getaway

This past weekend, my sister & her husband, and Geoff & I, had a weekend away to the Gaylord Texan.  We knew we didn't want to go far, but wanted a little weekend of relaxing and spending time together.  Geoff and I will be celebrating 8 years of marriage tomorrow, and Phil had a birthday last weekend (not that we needed these things as an excuse, ha!)

On Friday afternoon, we loaded up the kids (and most of our house)…and headed to Gramma and Poppa's.  The girls were very excited.  Nolan….had no clue.  ;)

My mom and Terry are still getting settled into their new home….which worked out perfectly because their furniture for the formal living room has not arrived, yet….and so the kids had free range here with their riding cars and Nolan's push toys.

I'm sure I've said it before, and I'm sure I will say it again….but it is so fun seeing Nolan this age and the girls' their age (6 and 4).  Obviously, when Grace was this age, Parker was 3 years old and did not really have an interest in her at all.  But he's a lucky duck because one of them is always willing to give him a ride or push or pull him around.

We had a good time.  I think we all wanted to stay one more day just to stay in the room to sleep and watch cable TV all day.  But back to life it was.

Kristin and Me

Me and my love

(and, oops!, I did not get a picture of Kristin and Phil together??)

Friday night we went to the Glass Cactus for a bit.  Saturday morning the guys played golf (in the cold rain and I think they wish they would not have done this)….all while Kristin and I enjoyed a massage, mani, and pedi (all of which we both commented were the best we've ever had).  It was so so nice!

Then we all enjoyed lunch and a nap.  For dinner we went to Salt Grass….then it was back to the hotel to turn in early.  Geoff and I watched TV for about an hour and a half or so and then were asleep around 9:30.  Sunday morning I woke up pretty early and after Geoff got up…he went down to get us a Starbucks coffee that I enjoyed in bed while watching TV.  This never happens and I enjoyed it oh so much!

When we finally got home around 2pm it was time for Nolan's nap…and I was feeling like I was ready for a nap.  I wasn't ready to be back.  But I ended up catching a 3rd wind and went to town cleaning the house.  We had picked up before we left, but hadn't really cleaned.   I'm almost finished with the laundry, I cleaned out Nolan's humidifier with vinegar, cleaned out our Keurig, steam cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room floor….and everything is unpacked and put away in its place (this is really an accomplishment in and of itself….I do not like unpacking!).  We also enjoyed some time playing with the kids outside and Geoff grilled burgers for dinner.  Per Parker's request…we ate outside (it was a really nice out, but as the sun went down it did become a little chilly).

We're ready for our Spring Break week of no school…..but hoping to still practice on some math facts and read a bit.  We'll see.  We're also still getting adjusted to this time change.  I'm reeeeally enjoying them sleeping a little later (they had started getting up regularly at 6:30….and while I am a morning person, I like to be up before them to just get my bearings straight)….. but not sure how I feel about the later bedtime.  Hopefully by the end of the week we'll have it all figured out.

Geoff's birthday

Geoff's birthday was last month.  Due to crazy work schedules and life...we still haven't even gone out for his birthday!  But we did try to make it a little special for him.

The morning of...the girls were my very eager helpers....and made him a birthday cake.  We made my granny's homemade chocolate cake recipe with homed chocolate icing.  So good!

Making homemade cakes = using a flour sifter.  The girls thought this was so fun.  And I remember it being fun for me when I was young, too.

Birthday cake....

.....and homemade birthday cards, and 2 happy little girls all set up and ready for his arrival.

He's home!

Make a wish!  I hope it comes true.
