Letter of the Week: Cc is for Caterpillar (and Candy!)

We ended up doing Letter Cc before Letter Bb….because I order caterpillars, and since first comes the caterpillars then comes the butterfly….we did C first. :)

Letter of the Week Printables from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

So fun watching her growth in so many areas.  Just really neat to see how in the beginning she did not know a thing about patterns.  And now she loves them and is pretty good at them, too.

C is for Caterpillar Dot-to-dot.  She doesn't really have the patience to connect the dots as we see and say the numbers, but we still mostly get it done.  ;)

C lacing card.

I can't remember the actual instructions that came with this numbered caterpillar….but what I had her do, was paint the paper that we were going to glue the caterpillar on.  I wanted her to work on number recognition, so she'd have to find the numbers and put them in the correct order (with some help, of course).

Very Hungry Caterpillar graphing.

Number puzzle.

She placed the objects on the string as Geoff read The Very Hungry Caterpillar  (they did this one day while I was working).

I made a copy for myself and we colored together.  I think I even enjoyed this time more than her.

Whoa!!  I let her put on her lipstick before 'school'.  Hahaha!

And while studying Cc…we ordered Caterpillars!  We've done this before 2 times, I think…but both times were when Grace was really too young to remember.  So I was really looking forward to it.  They came on a day I was working, and I had told Geoff to watch for the mail man because I was expecting the caterpillars and didn't want them to get too hot in the mailbox.  When I got home that evening…Grace was so excited and proud to show me her caterpillars came.

We got our Caterpillar-to Butterfly kits from nature-gifts.com

They usually send 5 caterpillars and guarantee that 5 will make it.  Well…we ended up with 6 and they ALL lived.  They've never bother me before or grossed me out….but this time they did.  They just got so huge…and there were so many of them.  Gag!  But I suppose it was for a good cause.  Ha!

They all made it into a chrysalis. (in this picture, one butterfly already hatched (???))

And more on the butterflies with Letter Bb!
