The Nutcracker

On Christmas day, we surprised the girls with tickets to The Nutcracker ballet for the day after Christmas.  They had become familiar with The Nutcracker by watching the American Girl Movie from last year, Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight.  Long story short…Isabelle and bunch of girls from this school of dance were chosen to dance in The Nutcracker.  So…we were excited to take them because they already sort of knew the story line and love watching the dancers.

Only problem was…that the whole we before Christmas I was not feeling too well, but kept pushing forward.  Until Christmas Day….when I started running fever and pretty much didn't know how I was going to take care of 3 children any longer.  Good thing was….Geoff was off the day after Christmas!  But…then I could not go with them.  Instead….Geoff and Poppa took the our girls and my niece…. and then my mom and sister offered to watch Nolan so that I could rest.  Thank goodness for that!  I slept 15 of those 24 hours!

Geoff was so sweet and took all of these pictures and sent them to me.

Poppa was sweet and got them each a ballerina ornament for the tree.  They love them!

So what they did not anticipate was that the parking garage would take HOURS to get out of.  So after waiting about an hour…they decided to park, get out, and go to dinner and enjoy the city a bit.  I'm glad they were able to do that.  And if we go again next year…we will just plan to do that.

Meanwhile back at home….I got a call from my sister around 4:30 saying Nolan had a bad cough and woke up from his nap with a fever.  So I drug myself out of bed and took him to the urgent care because I was pretty sure he had the flu since I figured that's what I'd been dealing with all week.
And so it was….the flu!!  Poor baby!!  Thankfully by 10pm that evening I was feeling a lot better…and ready to take care of the rest of the family as they got the flu.
