back in the swing of things...

Parker went back to school yesterday and then today was our first homeschool day in over 2 weeks.  I had all of these grand plans over the break to get reeeeallly organized.  And I was highly motivated to finish the second half of this year strong.

And then the flu happened.  And it went through the family over almost the entire 2 week break (thankfully Parker never got it…but the rest of us did!).

So while I didn't get as much accomplished as I'd have liked to (which is normally the case even without a good excuse like the flu)….I still want to finish this year strong.  I am in such a better place this year than I was this time last year and I am so thankful for that.  I've grown and learned so much about myself and about Parker and about teaching in this model (she's grown and matured, as well)…and while we still have our struggles (there were even tears today!)….I just don't have the looming doubt about our schooling decision that I did last year.

With Grace….on the other hand…we are trudging along in new waters (well not so new…it's been since August). It's preK, I know!  But everything she learns and knows…and everything she does not know….falls on me.  I'm working it out and trying to allow myself to try new and different things if the things I'm doing aren't working for her or she doesn't enjoy it.


All of this to say… it was a good day today.
