no water???

I woke up this morning about an hour and a half before Parker and Geoff. In an effort to be quite- I decided to hold off on brushing my teeth or using the restroom.

At about 8:30- they awoke.

I head to the restroom...only to find that I could not flush the toilet. "That's odd," I thought. "Oh well- I'll just brush my teeth." Only- no water pressure.

We try to turn on the news...only they are not talking about any water outage. Geoff calls the front desk...to which they inform us of that there was an electrical fire at the pumping station and that it damaged the generators to the pumps, therefore, the water was going to be out and they didn't know when it would be up and running again.

So then we check the internet news and blablabla. (I'll now try to cut this story in half...)

We went ahead and ate breakfast here at the hotel (I wouldn't recommend the buffet). We took Parker to Palm Beach (a little pool/lagoon area that has sand...almost like a real beach). We figured- if we end up leaving (because we still didn't really have the whole story)....might as well wear her out.

Let me also remind you what having no water means: no shower and no flushing. YUCK!!!!!

Ok- so on with our day. We come back to our room at about noon...still no water. We did find out by this point that the water outage only effected the area west of 81st street...that the fire that occurred was actually an after effect of Ike from last September....that they were still thinking the water would be back on by this afternoon (with boiling precautions for cooking and drinking for 24 to 48 hours)...but we were still trying to decide if we should move to a different hotel east of 81st street where they still had water....because we would- undoubtedly...have to shower before bed tonight...especially after we go to the beach this evening.

We changed clothes...ate lunch...got Ben & Jerry's (Blue Bell is waaaaaaay better- in my opinion).....and took a nap (and I am happy to report that Parker is still sleeping 2 hours later, bless her tired little heart). And just now...at 4:05 pm...we have water!!!! Whoo-hooo!!!

This will be a really fun story to tell Parker about.... Some. Day. ;)

But for now- on with our vacation....
