Disney World Day 2: Animal Kingdom

Day 2 was spent in Animal Kingdom.  We didn't have to be at a reservation or anything until 11:45 this day, so we had a slow start to our morning (which was what we needed after our long first day) and didn't get to the park until around 10:00.

Parker wanted to take a picture of us.  We had to remind her to take a picture of our faces....and she did pretty well.

They have these little discovery areas (I don't remember what exactly they are called) around the park (I think they said there are 4 of them).  At this one...the girls were able to stick their hands in the holes in the tree to see if they could identify the object that they were feeling without seeing it.

Parker did pretty well guessing some without much help....

Sister was a little more apprehensive about sticking her hand into a dark hole.  :)

After they identified all of the items....they were able to go over to this little table to actually see what they were touching.

Up next...meeting Pocahontas!  We waited probably 20 minutes to meet her and it was worth the wait!

I'm not sure how long we were there, but it seemed like she talked to the girls for a good minute or two.

and signed their autograph books....

I couldn't hear all that she said to them...but here she was telling him how Miko sometimes braids her hair.

They were listening very intently!  :)

And as we were leaving...Parker asked her where Miko was.  And Pocahontas told her that he was around here somewhere and asked if they could help her find him.  And they (mostly Parker) made it their mission for the remainder of the day.  ;)

Right after we met Pocahontas...we went to Tusker House for our character lunch.  Grace was NOT wanting to do this.  The characters (other than princesses) were still pretty scary to her at this point....

While eating lunch... the characters stopped by our table to visit and sign our autograph books....

they started playing some music in the middle of lunch and had a little conga line with Mickey....

At this point...Grace wasn't sure what to think of Goofy.  She couldn't decide if she should laugh or cry....because Goofy was starting to be a little silly to her.

After lunch- Geoff and the girls went on an African safari ride.  I wasn't able to go because they said it could be a little too bumpy for expectant moms.  So....

There's a Finding Nemo: The Musical production that we went and saw.  I think the girls enjoyed it (Parker more than Grace) but Geoff and I just thought it was the neatest thing.    It was about 30 minutes long and the girls sat still throughout the entire show.  You can't use flash photography and I was too lazy to figure out settings or pull out my phone so the picture of the building and our  memories are all we have of this.  ;)

Everest...a giant roller coaster that Geoff was able to get a fast pass for and ride after the Finding Nemo show.....

.. while the girls enjoyed a strawberry popsicle...

And before we headed out of the park for the day (we stayed til 5:00 which was closing)....the girls ran their daddy ragged at this play site.  So fun and neat!

I know this is blurry but you could not wipe the smile off of this girl's face....

Me and the boy just hanging out.  Not sure how much longer I'm going to be able to see my feet!
