Swimming Lessons 2012

I've been a slacker....and so this is the first year we put the girls in swim lessons.  Payton took them last year and I did notice how comfortable she was in the water.  But I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about how much they would actually learn in just 4 days (4- 30 minute classes).  And I was very pleasantly surprised!!  All 3 of the girls did SO good and learned SO much.

Parker had a rough day on Wednesday...would not go under water at all and threw a pretty big fit, thus distracting the other 2.  So the next day, one of the teachers worked with just Parker...getting her more comfortable in the water and not forcing her to go under.  She's never been 'afraid' of the water.....but does not want to go under the water!  And she's not afraid to let you know either!

Whatever they did worked!  We weren't able to see them all week (and I really only got to take them 1 day due to working....so thank you Kristin for doing this!)...but the last 5 minutes or so on the last day, Kristin and I were able to go in and see what they had accomplished.  Payton is swimming all by herself between the teachers....Grace sort of is...just needs a little more practice and strength.  And Parker is kicking really well and putting part of her face in the water.  Baby steps.  :)

Lots of pictures, but I didn't want to take a single one out.  I was so proud of all 3 of them I had to hold back the tears.

Grace's turn....

Proud Momma.  ;)

She may not have gone under the water....but I was (am) still so proud of her.  She was pretty upset on Wednesday and said she never wanted to go back to swim lessons.  I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't want to just pull her out...she needs to learn water safety for sure.  But I also know how she can be...and I didn't want her to ruin it for the other two.  So thankful for the sweet teachers and how they knew what she needed.

And here's Patyon.  I know I'm not her Momma...but I was so proud of her, too, just like she was mine.  Swimming all by herself!  Very impressed by this 3 year-old's swimming skills.  ;)

They had a few more turns each...

Kick-kick-kick-kick!

I love how they were to practice their kicks while they waited!

Each day they got to pick out 2 pieces of candy....

And on this last day...they got their  medals....

Me and the girls before I had to leave them again and head to work...

Parker came up to me and wanted me to take another picture of her with her medal.  I just kept telling her how proud I was of her.  And am looking forward to continue to encourage and practice her swimming for the rest of the summer.  Gah....she's growing up.
