Quilt Along

I think it was about a year ago that I stumbled upon this fun and creative blog called Unhistoric Acts. I check it from time to time to see what new and neat things that Sarah had been up to.

It was her blog, in fact, that gave me the inspiration to make quilts for the girls when I had a) no sewing machine, b) no sewing experience, and c) no time. ;)

She made this coin quilt....and when I saw it...I really liked it....and it looked 'easy' enough for me to possibly do. And I did! Grace's quilt top was the first thing I ever sewed....and although it is not quilted yet...it will be. Soon. Hopefully soon. It will. Ok?

About 2 weeks ago.....she posted about a quilt along she was going to have. She decided on a quilt (this quilt).....and anyone who wanted to participate, could participate with her at her house....or virtually....and send pictures of their progress.

How fun to be a virtual participant?? And it would be a great encouragement for me to have a time line.....and to give me a little extra motivation to actually 'quilt' this quilt.

For the 2 quilt tops I have done (Parker's and Grace's).....I have just ordered my fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop.....because they have such great fabrics to chose from....and they are already coordinated. Something I wasn't sure that I could do......coordinate.

But for this quilt....I decided I would go to Joann's and pick out the material myself. I'd save some money (which is always good)....and this was especially important this time because I plan on quilting this one myself.....which equals.....a lot of mistakes!

So these are the fabrics I chose.....and I realize that they may or may not end up looking good. But it's exciting nonetheless.

This past Tuesday was the cutting of the fabric night at her house....and so....here at my house....I cut as well. Not quite finished....still need to cut my neutral fabric into squares....but will be getting to it soon. Then it will be time to piece the quilt together!

If you would like to join in on the fun...feel free! I don't think it's too late to catch up. For more information....check out Sarah's blog at Unhistoric Acts.
